Facial keloid

These lesions are benign and very unwanted because are facial. The cause of these keloid is injuries, vaccine, piercing, burns, severe acne ...
These scars are very large, red, hard and itchy.
The changes over time allows us to distinguish between a keloid scar and a hypertrophic scar :
- A keloid scar, which has no tendency to spontaneous improvement and remains stable or even worse with time.
- A hypertrophic scar, which improves spontaneously in 2 or 3 years.
These facial keloid scars are most common among black and Asian. They appear in the original injury,on the face.

The far greater problem in a keloid is of course the disfiguring appearance. Those affected suffer greatly. Often there is a mental illness as a result of keloids. A removal of keloids is difficult and problematic. It often happens after the initial surgical removal a recurrence of the keloid that can be a even stronger formation of keloids. This reaction is triggered by a stimulus which is generated by the removal of the initial keloid.
